ODA TV TRIAL
No Journalists Released
None of the indicted journalists were released at the first hearing of the Oda TV trial on 22 November. The court is going to evaluate the motion to require the judge to recuse himself. The decision will be announced in the coming hearing on 26 December.

The court decided to bring Altan Tan, deputy of the pro-Kurdish BDP, to court on compulsion. He is facing more than 23 years in jail. "One day, these prosecutors will be ashamed like the prosecutors of 12 September", Tan told bianet.

Architect Onur Yaser Can committed suicide when he was summoned to give a statement at the Narcotics Branch for the third time. His last letter that described ill-treatment in police custody was now presented at court. The police officers on trial reject all charges.

HRANT DINK MURDER CASE
First Hearing of Prime Suspect at Juvenile Court
The prosecution of Ogün Samast, one of the prime suspects in the murder case of Turkish-Armenian journalist Hrant Dink, started on 28 February at a juvenile court in Istanbul. Samast's request for a closed session was rejected. Nine of Dink's relatives were accepted as co-plaintiffs.

At the first hearing on the grounds of the book "Justice in a Gown", Prosecutor Şanal claimed an "attack on his personal rights". Şanal claims a compensation from journalist Taşçı, author of the book. The case was postponed.

At the first hearing of the case filed by PM Erdoğan against 16 university students of the Beyoğlu Troupe of Actors, witness Güçbilmez from the AKP stated, "I did not actually hear the song but I was told about it". The trial was adjourned to 25 March.

First Hearing of "Sledgehammer Coup Plan" Trial
The number of defendants in the "Sledgehammer" Coup Plan Trial heard in Silivri is down by one to 195 since one person was notified incorrectly. None of the defendants are detained. The case was adjourned to 28 December upon the request of a recusal of the judge.

Writer Akhanlı Released Pending Trial
Writer Akhanlı was released pending trial in the first hearing after 113 days in detention. Akanlı was arrested this August when he entered Turkey from his home country Germany because of his alleged involvement in an armed robbery 21 years ago.

39 gendarmerie officers are tried in the case regarding the "return to life" operation which left 30 people dead in Turkish prisons in 2000. 27 out of the 28 defendants that appeared at court claimed that they did not remember anything.

Armenian Weekly Agos Accepted as Joint Plaintiff in "Cage" Trial
The Istanbul 12th High Criminal Court accepted the Armenian Agos newspaper as joint plaintiff in the trial related to the "Cage Action Plan". Defendant Erakyol did not accept the charges pressed against him. Defendant Özsaraç denied the existence of the plan.

"Poyrazköy" - Armenian Agos Newspaper Rejected as Joint Plaintiff
An Istanbul Court dismissed the request to be accepted as joint plaintiffs made by Turkish-Armenian Agos newspaper and the Armenian Church. Neither will the file be transferred to a military court as demanded by the defendants' lawyers. The case will continue on 15 April.

Of the 11 detained tried for the murder of 44 people in the province of Mardin 3 defendants pleaded guilty, designating the massacre as "honor killing". 8 defendants denied the charges, their testimony confirmed by the 3 confessors.
