The court handling the trial of Fevziye Cengiz who was exposed to violence at a police station in Izmir decided for lack of jurisdiction and sent the case to a Criminal Court of First Instance. Lawyer Yıldırım said the file should go to a high criminal court due to the torture allegations.

The police officers who treated Fevziye Cengiz violently at a police station in Izmir were punished with monthly instalments of TL 30 as the result of an administrative investigation. Lawyer Yıldırım said they would appeal at the ECHR if necessary.

Minister of the Interior Şahin criticized the news about Cengiz who was beaten by the police. According to the minister, this was a single incident and the news was exaggerated. He questioned, "What do you want? Should I put up the gallows and hang my personnel?"
