Warden Sentenced to Life For “Neglecting Torture”
Turkey’s Supreme Court of Appeals announced its verdict on Engin Çeber case, approving the life sentence of a prison administrator for “neglecting torture” setting a landmark to find a prison warden guilty even though he didn’t directly take part of torture.

Çeber Case: Life Sentences for 3 Prison Guards and Head of Prison
Three prison guards and the vice director of Metris Prison were convicted of "causing death by torture" in the case of Engin Çeber who died from torture in custody. They received life sentences. Three police officers and the prison doctor were punished as well.

Impunity in Torture Case with New Prosecutor?
Newly assigned prosecutor Calık in the torture case of Engin Çeber, who died from torture in detention, requested a life sentence for only two of a total of 60 defendants and acquittal for ten police officers. Lawyer Tanay criticized that the demanded sentences resemble an exemption from punishment.

Torture Case of Killed Activist Çeber Postponed
The prosecutor excused his absense in yesterday's hearing of the trial regarding Engin Çeber who was killed by torture in custody. The case was postponed ot 12 April. The case launched against Çeber's friends who were also exposed to torture continues today.

Lawyer Aslan stated that witness accounts as well as camera records and medical reports show evidence of torture against Çeber and his friends both in the police station and in the Metris Prison. The court did not detain the suspect police officers.

Because of missing voice records the 7th hearing of the Engin Çeber murder case had to be repeated. Detained defendants Karaosmanoğlu and Aksu reiterated their statements. Lawyer Tanay is concerned about a fair trial. Some crucial statements made in the previous session are still missing. The case is postponed till 16 November.

Amnesty International Launches An Emergency Action For The Tortured Activists
Amnesty International demanded independent medical treatment an aid for Gün and Karakaya, who have been facing torture and bad treatment. Their friend Ceber, who was put into prison with time, died a few days ago for the bad treatment he received in prison.
