A lawsuit has been filed against lawyer Efkan Bolaç for “insulting the President” with two Carlos Latuff cartoons that he shared on Instagram. However, the cartoons were posted in 2014, when Erdoğan had not yet been elected the President.

Lawyer Efkan Bolaç wrote on Twitter on July 16, 2016: “Nothing so bad but it might have been worse, we have seen this, too. The diktat enthusiasts who staged a coup against the diktat have turned the country into a fireground.”

"Only incitements that 'contain violence or advise violence' can be considered within the scope of the article," the prosecutor's office has said.

In a case concerning lawyer Efkan Bolaç, the prosecutor lodged an appeal 20 days after the court verdict but the appeal period was seven days.

Bolaç is also charged with insulting judicial authorities because of retweeting another user's tweet.

Investigating the lawyer over a social media post, prosecutors ordered the confiscation of his phone to look for other "indications of crime."

Facing 6 months of prison for taking photos during a court hearing, Dutch journalist Mehmet Ülger was acquitted. The case file, on the other hand, didn’t even include photos as evidence.
