Kurdish media outlets named two journalists killed in the strike while earlier reports from the Iraqi media suggested that a senior PKK member was targeted. A KRG official has condemned the incident as Ankara remains silent.

While not directly claiming responsibility for the drone strike, Turkey claimed that the strike showed some KRG security members were in cooperation with the PKK.

The journalist who was targeted in the strike was covering the killing of two Kurdish leaders in a previous drone strike back in June.

The Kurdish-led autonomous administration has said the strike was carried out by Turkey while Ankara has not yet made any official statement regarding the incident.
