In response to a parliamentary inquiry of the Left Party, the Ministry of Justice of Germany has stated that Turkey has submitted 848 requests of search or arrest to the country via Interpol since the coup attempt on July 15, 2016.

The Ministry of Interior has declared writer Akhanlı “guilty” even though the legal suit against him is on-going. Interpol has declared that the red notice issued for Akhanlı has been lifted.

The European Commission has underlined that “Interpol mustn’t be misused” in the wake of Akhanlı being detained upon Turkey’s demand. The politicians from Germany made a call that Interpol needs to undergo a chance in terms of its operations.

Previously detained in Spain upon Turkey’s request, Doğan Akhanlı has been released. The court on duty in Madrid has allotted Turkey 40 days to provide justification for its demand of extradition.

On the first hearing of Doğan Akhanlı, a writer whose acquittal verdict has been overthrown by Turkey’s Supreme Court of Appeals, defense lawyers asked for their client’s acquittal again. The court, on the other hand, issued a red notice to hear Akhanlı according to the procedures.
