President Erdoğan has said, “There can’t be treason against Turkey, Turkish homeland, Turkish nation in citizenship of Republic of Turkey. I don’t approve the ones who are in betrayal to be citizen of Republic of Turkey”.

Prime Minister Davutoğlu has said “According to our legislation it is not possible to denaturalize a citizen because of his/her relation with terror. It has not been added to the agenda yet” as to President Erdoğan’s suggestion to denaturalize citizens related to terror.

Legists Turgut Kazan and Yücel Sayman have said denaturalisation will have no legal basis and it contradicts international treaties.

Prime Minister Davutoğlu, Minister of Justice Bozdag, and Vice Prime Minister Kurtulmuş have spoken as to President Erdoğan’s remarks on deprivation of citizenship.

President Erdoğan has said he doesn’t agree with academics to be tried without arrest, “terror” organization supporters might be deprived of citizenship as a precaution.
