35 Children still Detained in Istanbul, Courts Slow Down Procedures
Despite amendments of the Anti-Terror Law, 35 children detained in Istanbul prisons have not been released yet. Lawyer Zincir criticized: "The courts do not take action, they decide for lack of jurisdiction and leave the review of the detentions to children courts".

CIAC Volunteers Continue Advocacy as “Followers of Justice”
Aribas from CIAT says, “We are continuing down the road, so that children can live like children.” She says that the child victims of the anti-terrorism law cannot be released because the necessary amendments to the Turkish penal code have not been carried out. CIAT volunteers monitor the malfunctions of the implementations, and give psycho-social support to children.

Imprisoned Juveniles Punished and Transferred after Protest
The Directorate of Prisons and Detention Houses declared that the cells of the juveniles who protested against conditions of detention were closed. A criminal investigation was launched into the juveniles involved. Then, they were all transferred to different institutions.

Adana: 3,155 Children Arrested in 2009
According to a report of the İHD Adana, 299 children were detained in 2009 in Adana. The children state that they were beaten by police officers, threatened to "confess", restrained by hand-cuffs and chains and exposed to torture by soldiers in prison.

Detained Children Complain from Torture Under Custody
2 out of 12 children detained in Adana applied to the prosecutor's office because they were exposed to torture in custody and in prison. Lawyer Bek said the children showed signs of assaults when he talked to them in prison.
