An officer had shot a man dead in 2020 in İstanbul after he allegedly disobeyed his warning to stop.

HDP’s Ersoy says that while Kaya was handcuffed behind his back and shot in the back of his head at close range, “the city surveillance cameras were not recording” in the meantime as in the case of several files where the police are perpetrators.

While the Governor's Office says the deceased man had resisted the police, there are reports claiming that the incident was an extrajudicial killing.
