Cem Uzan, the businessperson and politician who had to leave Turkey and seek political asylum in France in 2009, and his brother Murat Hakan Uzan are among the three whose applications for candidacy were rejected.

Uzan was granted political asylum by France in 2009 after his family's companies were seized and he was handed a prison sentence of 18 years.
