Parliament Speaker Rejects Alevi Proposal on Religious Grounds
Parliament Speaker Cemil Çiçek rejected a proposal by opposition People’s Republican Party (CHP) deputy Hüseyin Aygün to open a “cem house” (Alevi house of worship) in Parliament, citing a “fatwa” (religious decree) issued by the Directorate of Religious Affairs.

"Oppression cannot intimidate us. This cem house is going to be opened" is the message of local residents after the municipality police again attacked the Alevi Yeşilkent Pirsultan Cem House in Avcılar. Many people were beaten during the assault on the place of worship.

Sixth Attack on Alevi Place of Worship
An Alevi worship place in Izmir was attacked for the sixth time. A fire broke out which, according to the police, was caused by playing children. Ali Balkız, Head of the Alevi Bektashi Federation, said it was an attack by the "followers of sharia".

Alevis To The Rescue Of Their Cem House
The reactions are continuing about Gökçek’s announcement that the Dikmen Valley Cemevi will be demolished since it is illegal. Alevis want Gökçek to be respectful to all beliefs.
