Cafer Erçakmak, prime suspect of the Sivas Massacre who was being searched for 18 years supposedly died from a heart attack on 11 July 2011. The result of a DNA report now proved with a probability of 99.9 percent that the deceased person was indeed Erçakmak.

The trial on the Sivas Massacre in 1993 that left 37 people dead was continued on 21 June. The prosecutor demanded to drop procedures against six out of seven fugitive defendants due to the status of limitation.

An Ankara court issued an arrest warrant for Cafer Erçakmak who played a provocative role in the Sivas Massacre 16 years ago. The court will gather information related to Erçakmak until the coming hearing on 24 December.
