'Media plays a role in the spread of hate speech'
IPS Communication Foundation/bianet examined 80 issues from 10 Turkish newspapers in its report "Hate Speech in Turkish Print Media". The analysis identified hate speech in 21 out of 66 articles.

Police officers rear-handcuffing former bianet reporter fined 9,000 lira payable in 10 months
İstanbul 35th Criminal Court of First Instance convicted three police officers on charges of violating "freedom of work and labor" for attempting to arrest bianet reporter Beyza Kural with violence while she was covering students' protests in İstanbul, Beyazıt in 2015. The court imposed a fine of 20 lira per day but deferred the penalty.

Four more news articles of bianet censored concerning former lawyer of President Erdoğan
Former lawyer of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Mustafa Doğan İnal, obtained a court order blocking access to 117 news articles and posts about himself, including four from bianet. İnal had again imposed censorship on hundreds of other news articles previously.
