The President of Iraq Fuad Masum has stated that “his country is fearful of an Afrin operation being repeated in Shingal.” Masum has added, “After the withdrawal of PKK, foreign forces cannot come and invade a part of Iraq.”

Iraqi Ambassador to Turkey Al-Alawi has declared that Turkey’s soldiers will withdraw from Bashiqa camp after Mosul operation is completed. Ministry of National Defense Işık said, “Presence of Turkish soldiers in Bashiqa, Mosul is not arbitrary but a necessity”.

Stating that the peshmerga forces demanded support, Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım has noted that the Turkish forces in Bashiqa supported these forces against ISIS.

PM Yıldırım has issued a statement about Iraq, Mosul and Bashiqa dispute. “It is not that our soldiers went there today. They have been there for a long time and carrying meaningful activities there”, the PM said.

Vice PM Kurtulmuş has said “No one has the right to oppose presence of Turkey’s army in Bashiqa while Iraq has been fragmented this much” in response to Iraqi parliament’s decision.
