The Speaker’s Office has rejected HDP MP Meral Danış Beştaş’s Parliamentary question about imprisoned student Baran Barış Korkmaz, whose 59-year prison sentence has been recently upheld by the court of appeal.

His family is surprised that 59-year prison sentence of arrested student Korkmaz has been upheld. His sister has said, “We thought that his prison sentence would not be upheld, we were hopeful” and asked, “Where is this judicial reform, then?”

Korkmaz says that the indictment that caused him to be given a 59-year prison term is nothing more than a scenario.
