HDP İstanbul MP Züleyha Gülüm has submitted a Parliamentary question about the problems faced by children with autism and their families as well as the discrimination faced by them in both education and social sphere.

The father of Muratcan Ayas has said that he learned about his son’s heart attack from hospital reports. He has filed a criminal complaint against the care home where his son with autism was staying; an autopsy was done as part of the investigation.

Muratcan Ayas, a person with autism staying in a care home in Elazığ province, has lost 35 kilos in 90 days and lapsed into vegetative state after having a heart attack. A rights group has made a call for effective investigation into the issue.

After it was reported in the news that a group of parents requested the closure of classrooms for autistic children at a primary school in Aksaray and booed the children, the Ministry of Education has launched an investigation.
