Awarded to young people under the age of 30 for their contributions to nature conservation, the 2020 World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) International Youth Award has been granted to four people, including climate activist Sarrafoğlu from Turkey.

Attending the Smile for Future summit in Lausanne, Switzerland, 16-year-old climate activist Greta Thunberg from Sweden sent a message to Turkey. “Ida Mountains belong to us all”, said Thunberg in Turkish.

Students from Turkey joined the global school strike upon the call of Greta Thunberg. Atlas Sarrafoğlu, one of the students who joined the strike in İstanbul, has said, “We didn’t go to school today, because school can wait, but climate change doesn’t.”
