The İstanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office has launched an investigation following a notice letter about İstanbul Metropolitan Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, demanding that the Governor’s Office “consider and do the necessary for his life safety”.

After 2 military officers were arrested last week because of an alleged assassination plan regarding Deputy Prime Minister Bülent Arınç, prosecutors searched premises of the Special Forces Command in 3 consecutive raids. The duration of custody for 8 arrested soldiers has been prolonged.

According to the third Ergenekon indictment, there were plans to assassinate Armenian and Alevi leaders, DTP representatives and the writer Orhan Pamuk.
