Lawyers Özlem Gümüştaş and Sezin Uçar from the Law Bureau of the Oppressed, who have been behind bars for almost a year, have been released. The arrest of journalists İsminaz Temel and Havva Cuştan has still been continuing.

Six attorneys from the Progressive Legists’ Association’s İzmir Branch have been released following their questioning by the Prosecutor’s Office after being kept in detention for four days.

Police raided apartments, offices of attorneys from Progressive Legists’ Association, detained 6 lawyers. Attorney Yeşil from the association said that the attorneys were working on the Soma Case regarding the occupational homicide in Soma mine, where 301 miners had lost their lives.

US Department of State Spokesperson Nauert as to Osman Kavala and 19 activists, attorney and journalists being detained in Ankara yesterday, said that they had been following these case closely and that the detentions in Turkey were often made with very little or no evidence at all.

The attorneys, who were taken into custody earlier today by police raiding their offices, had already submitted a request voluntarily to give their deposition to the Prosecutor’s Office earlier. Yet the office ignored the request and the raids were carried out, said Attorney Alcan.

In an operation carried out in İstanbul in the early morning hours, at least 16 people have been taken into custody. Two lawyers and two journalists are among the detainees.

CHP Chairperson Kılıçdaroğlu as to his attorney Çelik being detained in FETÖ investigation said “eclipse of reason” and CHP Spokesperson Tezcan noted that Çelik had stood against FETÖ his whole life.
