Report on the gold mine disaster from the Independent Mining Workers' Union
The union prepared a report on İliç, where 9 workers were trapped under cyanide-laden soil: "Prior to the incident at 14:28 on February 13, unusual cracks were detected by workers on the heap, on the heap's roads and around the site, documented in photographs, and reported to authorities through both the company's risk notification system and other channels. However, necessary precautions were not taken."

I hope he doesn't turn out to be right. However, he reflected that before this collapse, 667 workers had changed shifts."

The Erzincan Chief Public Prosecutor's Office announced that "a total of eight individuals, including a Canadian national holding the position of employer representative for the relevant company, who is assessed to have negligence in the occurrence of the incident according to initial findings, were detained on February 14."

'Erosion' and 'landslide' risks mentioned in the final introduction report of İliç gold mine
According to the report, "one common issue for both soil types is the thinness of the soil cover. Additionally, steep slopes decrease resistance to erosion. Furthermore, both soil types contain gravel and large stones."

Canadian Ambassador Kevin Hamilton, in a statement on social media platform X last night, wrote that the mining operation in Erzincan is not owned by Canada. However, the SSR Mining company is based in Vancouver, Canada.

Prosecutor dismisses investigation into gold mine cyanide spill into Euphrates river
Twenty cubic meters of solution containing cyanide spilled into the river in June. The prosecutor's office has concluded that there was no need for prosecution following inspections and sanctions on the mining company.
