İHD 2011 Prison Report - Summary of Rights Violations
256 sick convicts, 106 of whom are severely ill, are waiting for their release from prison, according to the 2011 report of the Human Rights Foundation. Especially prisoners in eastern and south-eastern regions are continuously exposed to rights violations.

2011: Year of Publication Bans
The annual report on the Marmara Region released by the Human Rights Association revealed, "Torture spilled over from detention centres to the street". Also in 2011 in the region, 81 publications were seized and banned, 71 more than in the previous year.

2011 BİA MEDIA MONITORING REPORT
104 Journalists and 30 Distributors in Prison
104 journalists and 30 distributors went to jail until the end of 2011. The journalists are in prison under allegations of affiliations with illegal organizations in the scope of the Anti-Terror Law and the Turkish Criminal Law. 94 out of these 134 press workers are from Kurdish media outlets.

Men Killed 257 Women in 2011
In 2011, male culprits killed 257 women, 32 men, 14 children and two babies. At least 102 women and 59 girls were raped. 167 women were harassed; 220 women were wounded. In 2010, 217 women and three children were killed by men.

79 People Died in Turkish Mines in 2011
A study by the Chamber of Mining Engineers revealed that 79 people died in mines in Turkey in 2011, two of whom were mining engineers. 117 people were wounded.

Anti Terror Law on the Job - Journalists in the Streets
In July, August and September 2011, 66 journalists were in jail, 11 of whom because of their writings and utterances. 13 people are facing imprisonment of 334.5 years in total. Most of the trials are based on Articles 7/2 of the Anti Terror Law and 314 and 220 of the Criminal Law.

According to the BIA Media Monitoring Report for the second quarter of 2011, 68 journalists went to jail till July, 12 of them because of their news, writings and utterances. Turkish courts decided for prison sentences of 44 years and 8 months in total in April, May and June.
