Women have responded to President Erdoğan, who claimed that women attending the 17th Feminist Night March “whistled to the call to prayer”: “Don’t distort it: Our revolt is against police barricades, against the ones who want to prevent women’s march.”

We have no intention to back down from this feminist revolt or give up on our March 8th Feminist Night March. We know we are right. We know it is our right.

Though the police have closed all roads leading to the İstiklal Avenue, women could still gather in front of French Cultural Center for the 17th Feminist Night March. As of 8.50 p.m., the police have attacked the women with pepper gas.
