In Good Times and Bad: Living Together
IPS Communication Foundation/ bianet & Hafıza Merkezi Berlin published a podcast series called "In Good Times and Bad: Living Together" as part of the Matra project. The implementation period of the project was 01.12.2021- 31.11.2022.
This project aims to discuss “living together with our differences” in an in-depth manner with journalists, scholars, activists and human rights defenders in order to challenge deepening polarisation and to strengthen democratisation in Turkey. During the implementation period, this broader aim was reached by informing the wider public about the transnational character of these rights-based debates and by training journalists about these issues to support citizens’ right to obtain information.
The project included three main components: 10 podcasts, 10 news files and 3 trainings.
The podcasts and the news files focused on 10 subjects related to the notion of “living together in Turkey”. 10 topics - Memory, family, hate, impunity, racism, fear, truth of the news/fake news, talking to each other (beyond Anthropocene), lie and dialogue through art are all revealing key contentious issues related with the experience of living together in Turkey. These topics were deliberately chosen since each of them reflects one of the genuine problems and conflicts related with the theme of living together.
