S-400 Delivery Starts

The first parts of the S-400 Long-Range Air Defense and Missile Defense System have been delivered to Turkey. Turkey's purchase of S-400s from Russia has caused tension between the US and Turkey.

In a statement released by the Ministry of National Defense, it has been indicated that "within the frame of the agreement signed on April 11, 2017, the delivery of the first parts of S-400 Long-Range Air Defense and Missile Defense System to Mürted Air Base / Ankara started as of July 12, 2019."

The Defense Industry Directorate has also announced that "the delivery of other parts of the system will continue in upcoming days and when the system is completely ready, it will start to be used as specified by the relevant authorities." (DB/SD)
