Yüksekdağ: Why Rules of Engagement not Applied to ISIS

Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Co-Chair Figen Yüksekdağ has noted that the operations in Cizre have not really been completed and yet an operation had been conducted on Cizre Municipality today (February 16).

“Here there is no compassion and aid here, there are just the barrels of tens of tanks. What they call ‘completed successfully’ is a devastated town brought down in ruins”.  

In her speech held in the group meeting of her party, Yüksekdağ has recorded that they had not got any response to their calls for the 145 persons who had lost their lives in the operations.

They are hindering the municipality

Outlines from Yüksekdağ’s speech are as follows:  

“The society in Turkey tried to be turned into a slave of violence and atrocity. The government which claims to have ended the operations successfully is bragging with violence called success. 258 brothers and sisters and fellow citizens have been slaughtered during the barricade. As if that were not enough, the bodies have been tortured.

“They have shed so much blood but could not conquer the living will in Cizre.

“Why have you pulled down these houses and towns for months!? To film the state’s scenario of compassion? The ones who give a hand prevent the municipalities from providing help for the people.

“Why? Because there are also Kurds among those municipalities. The government says; ‘I both kill the Kurds, pull down their houses and come to help to build’. But why have you torn down the Kurd’s house? We will relieve our wounds and stand up again, they just shall not cast a shadow”.

When Al Nusra loses front...

“PYD (Democratic Union Party) regions are being shelled continuously. Why? Because fascist gangs such as ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria) and its derivatives are being rooted out.

“As soon as derivatives of Al Nusra start losing front in Syria, Turkey has launched the operations against Democratic Syrian Forces.

“Why don’t you apply the rules of engagement to ISIS; who has cut the throat of the Turkish soldier, ISIS or PYD?” (YY/DG)
