Chair of the Supreme Election Council (YSK), Sadi Güven, has spoken to the journalists in front of the YSK building in the capital Ankara, saying that the temporary results have been shared with the political parties.
Güven said that the process of appeals is continuing and the district and provincial election councils will decide on the appeals.
Güven added that the time for appealing against the results at the district councils will be up at 3 p.m. today (April 2) and there is one more day to appeal at the provincial councils.
"Mandates will be given in the places where there are no appeals," said Güven.
Appeals by AKP in İstanbul and Ankara
İstanbul Provincial Election Council, in an official statement yesterday, said that the counting is completed and Ekrem İmamoğlu, the candidate for the Nation's Alliance, formed by the main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) and İYİ (Good) Party, is ahead by 24,408 votes.
İmamoğlu changed his Twitter bio to "Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality" yesterday.
Binali Yıldırım, the candidate for the People's Alliance, formed by the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) and the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), claimed yesterday that there is faulty data entry into the system.
"The difference is 25 thousand, the counting of the invalid votes, which are ten times more than the difference, is continuing," he said.
AKP Spokesperson said today in a press conference that they will appeal against the results in İstanbul and Ankara. CHP candidates İmamoğlu and Mansur Yavaş won in both cities, according to unofficial results.
Meanwhile, the pro-government daily Yeni Şafak claimed that AKP decided to appeal against all the results in İstanbul's districts. (AS/VK)
