The decision regarding the ban was also removed from Turkey’s telecommunications authority’s (TİB) website.
Turkey had blocked access to YouTube on TİB’s decision dated March 27, 2014.
Istanbul Bilgi University Professor Yaman Akdeniz and Ankara University Associate Professor Kerem Altıparmak had applied to the Constitutional Court on April 7, 2014 for the removal of the ban on the social media site.
Akdeniz and Altıparmak wrote in the petition they presented the court that not only did the YouTube access ban obstruct freedom of expression, but it also prevented people’s right to obtain information. (EKN/PU/BM)
