Doing his mandatory military service in prison in Dinar, Afyon, M.A. has allegedly committed suicide with his infantry rifle during guard-duty.
According to vicdaniret.org citing Cumhuriyet newspaper, M.A. went to sentry box to keep his guard-duty in Dinar Type T Closed and Open Penitentiary Institution.
Heading to the sentry box upon gun shots, the officers found M.A. lying as shot in his stomach. The teams coming to the scene determined that M.A. was dead. M.A. allegedly committed suicide by holding the infantry rifle G3 into his stomach.
About G3
G3 infantry rifle is 102 cm long. Its barrel length is 45 cm and its weight is 4.3 kg.
Developed in 1950 in Germany and started to be used in 1959, the rifle is used in military of 72 countries. (EKN/TK)
