The workers went on strike today (October 17) in front of Bakırköy Municipality building as no agreement could be reached upon the Collective Labor Agreement on which was being worked on behalf of 530 workers since March.
“The Municipality offers ‘0 rise’”
Speaking to bianet, union representative Hakan Yazıcı said they demand a rise of 15% but they dropped this rate during the negotiations.
Despite that, the Municipality offered 0 rise in salary, Yazıcı said.
Furthermore, stating that the Municipality offered to have 250 people from Theater Directorate staff be left out of the agreement, Yazıcı added that this is unacceptable in terms of both Labor Act and Union Act.
17 workers were sacked from Bakırköy Municipality in May. Some of the workers had won reemployment lawsuit. (NV/TK)
