The Women for Peace Initiative will meet in front of the Süreyya Opera House in Kadıköy at 5 p.m. on September 3.
A statement from the group said: “We see the increasingly commonplace bombs, blockades, arrests, raids, injustices, and continuous massacres in Turkey -- such as the most recent one in Antep -- and the increasing severity of hate, insecurity, intolerance between people”.
“Over the past year, we have witnessed the various forms of war, and we ourselves have experienced its severity. Now, with the arrival of tanks in Jarablus over the border, the state of war in which we were already in is being further deepened.
“As our lives become a subject for spiralling and manifold bargaining between countries, at a level far above us, the need for all of us to say ‘No to war’ is greater than ever before.
“In order to prevent war, death, injustice, and insecurity becoming the normal, routine state of affairs, we demand peace and resolution.” (NV/PS)
