“Ekmek ve Gül (Bread and Rose)” news website went online today (April 3).
Starting its broadcasting life as a TV program in 2008, Ekmek and Gül was ended following the closing of Hayat TV and that over 60 women’s organizations had said, “We will not let you silence us, the women. Ekmek ve Gül cannot be blacked out”.
Now, the Ekmek ve Gül team saying “Wherever women take it to the street, wherever women come together to make a change, wherever a matter is discussed over women, Ekmek ve Gül is there” moved the program to Internet.
The women taking their phones in their hands can make their own program in Ekmek ve Gül.
“For the past two days, women download some applications that they have never heard of before, contact us and do their own broadcast. This will continue throughout the week. Both host and guest are themselves…”, Sevda Karaca from Ekmek ve Gül said.
Women are “experts of every area”
Noting that Ekmek ve Gül is not just a news site, the team explains the content of the site:
“Life doesn’t merely consist of troubles. It is a huge success to not lose joy in this country. We are dreaming of a web portal in which women can find anything that cheers them up and be informed.
“In opposition to ‘womanless’ platforms, comments and reports, women will be the ‘experts of every field’ in Ekmek ve Gül. They will discuss anything including politics, culture, art, health, education, law…” (ÇT/TK)
