Women's problems were not sufficiently addressed in the parliament over the past month, according to the monthly report by the Women's Equality Platform (EŞİK).
Among hundreds of speeches given at the parliament's genel assembly, only 94 were about women and most of them were given on December 5 International Day for Elimination of Violence Against Women and December 10 Human Rights Day, it noted.
The group also criticized the politicians for using the phrase "our women" instead of just "women."
In 12 parliamentary group meetings by five parties, women's problems were discussed in only three of them, according to the report.
The word "woman" was not uttered once at the main opposition Republican People's Party's (CHP) group meetings.
President and Justice and Development Party (AKP) Chair Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said the word "woman" only when he said "Day Against Women" instead of "Day Against Elimination of Violence Against Women" on November 25.
Only 30 of 519 parliamentary questions, 13 of 103 motions for a parliamentary inquiry and three of 62 law proposals were about women in the past month.
The country's 2021 budget, which also passed the parliament in this period, didn't include programs for gender equality, said the report. (EMK/VK)
