Women marched towards Bakırköy Liberty Square for March 8 International Women’s Day with the slogan “We resist for our labor, identity and freedom against war, State of Emergency and sexism” yesterday (March 4).
Police set up barricades prior to the rally which was organized on permission granted by the governorship.
“Discharged women will be among us”
March 8 Coordination Spokesperson Şenay Kumuz shared the following information concerning the rally:
“We will be at Bakırköy Liberty Square on March 4, Sunday. There will be speakers at the demonstration. Among these speakers are women discharged by statutory decrees, women whose right to go on strike were violated, women MPs and of course our music. First of all, we will be at the square with our slogans, demands and words. Like every year, will gather at Dikilitaş in Bakırköy at 11 a.m. and start marching at 12. We will start our demonstration with the slogan ‘We resist for our labor, identity and freedom against war, State of Emergency and sexism”. (PT/TK)
