A group of women from the We Will Stop Feminicides Platform staged a protest in front of the Consulate of Afghanistan in Beşiktaş, İstanbul.
They showed a banner that read "Taliban and its supporters will be erased from the earth, women will live in secularism," and left a purple wreath in front of the consulate.
Reading out a statement, the platform's secretary-general Fidan Ataselim said, "We see, hear and know what happened after the Taliban took over the government of Afghanistan from the stories that women from Afghanistan told."
"We want to tell every woman, especially those in Afghanistan, who feel alone and think they are not seen, that they are never alone," she said.
The LGBTIQ+ Assemblies separately released a statement, saying, "We struggle for a world where nobody suffers inequality because of their sexual orientation and sexual identity in neither Turkey nor Afghanistan. We struggle to protect the gains of secularism, for our lives and freedom of making decisions." (EMK/VK)
