Some 50 women from the Peace Point" group stage a sit-in in Taksim, nearby the Metro Station to protest against the war on Iraq.
During Monday's silent sit-in, women held candles with femina signs and placards inscribed "we are women, we do not want war", "War is assault, rape, violence", "War decisions are always made by men, this is no coincidence", "In war women always lose and they lose more".
"Let Us Meet Every Evening at the Peace Point"
The women also distributed press notes saying We women, who are the losers in most wars, urge for an immediate end to the occupation of and attack on Iraq, we ask for no more wars ever in other places.
The women ended the sit-in shouting the slogan "Women do not want war" and called all women to meet at "Peace Points" every evening at 19:30.
The venue for now is Taksim, yet they expect to reclaim other spots soon. (BE/EK)
