Wildfires in four cities have been brought under control, but they have caused damage to forested areas. The fire in Diyarbakır's Lice district is still ongoing.
Diyarbakır
In Diyarbakır, the fire began in a forested area where a military base and outpost are located in the Lice district. The forest fire that started in the area between Zengesor and Kort villages in Lice in the morning hours is still ongoing, Mezopotamya Agency (MA) reported.
Manisa
In Manisa, the fire that broke out in the forested area near the rural Ularca Neighborhood of Soma district was contained this morning after nearly 5 hours of intervention.
The fire was tackled by the İzmir Forest Regional Directorate and Manisa Metropolitan Municipality Fire Department. Cooling efforts are ongoing in the area.
Antalya
In Demre district of Antalya, the fire that broke out in a forested area yesterday has been contained. The fire caused damage to 1.5 hectares of forested land in Davazlar Neighborhood.
Muğla
In Muğla, the forest fire that broke out in the Kızıldağ region of Menteşe district has been brought under control through aerial and ground intervention, and cooling efforts are underway in the area.
In Bodrum district of Muğla, the fire that erupted in the shrubland and grassland has been extinguished through aerial and ground intervention.
Teams from Muğla Forest Regional Directorate and Muğla Metropolitan Municipality Fire Department responded to the fire in Ortakent-Yahşi Neighborhood, Ali Kelle Forest area. Minor explosions occurred in the transformers in the area during the fire. Local residents also intervened in the fire with garden hoses and fire extinguishers.
Turtles remaining in the fire area were rescued by the teams and citizens. The turtles were cooled by pouring water on them.
The controlled and cooling efforts continue in the fire, which caused damage to an area of approximately 5 hectares.
Balıkesir
In Kaz (Ida) Mountains, between Balıkesir's Edremit and Havran districts, the fire in Kaz Mountains has been brought under control after aerial and ground intervention.
The fire broke out in the Kumluca area of Kaz Mountaind, across from the Kumluca Forest Fire Station. Firefighting teams and citizens took part in the efforts to contain the fire. After the flames started to spread towards the forested area, additional support was requested from the center.
The fire was extinguished before it could reach the forested area thanks to the response by 6 bulldozers, 2 water tankers, 2 planes, 1 helicopter, and ground personnel. (AS/VK)
