Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Adana MP Meral Danış Beştaş has brought situation of Sisê Bingöl (75) to parliamentary agenda.
It was stated in the parliamentary inquiry that house detention request of Bingöl hasn’t been responded despite her medical condition.
According to the stats of the Human Rights Association, there are 1,025 sick prisoners 357 of whom are in critical condition.
Bingöl has been in Muş Type E Closed Prison for seven months.
Questions posed to the Minister of Justice
Danış Beştaş posed the following questions to Gül:
- Are you informed of Sisê Bingöl’s medical condition? Have you examined her file? Why is Bingöl aged 75 still in prison?
- Considering Bingöl’s age and medical condition, why isn’t she put under house arrest?
- Considering Bingöl being in prison is a life-threatening situation, why don’t you as the Ministry take measures?
- What is the public interest in a 75-year-old sick person completing her sentence in prison?
- How many detainees and inmates above 70 are there in prisons in Turkey?
- What is the number of sick detainees and inmates in prisons in Turkey? What is the number of heavily sick detainees and inmates and what is the level of their sickness? (AS/TK)
