The Speaker of the Parliament, Bulent Arinc, and Foreign Minister Abdullallah Gul held the roles of witnesses.
About 7,000 guests, including Jordanian King Abdullah, Pakistani President Pervez Musharref, Greek Prime Minister Kostas Karamanlis and Romanian Prime Minister Adriana Nastasse attended the wedding.
In a friendship message, Karamanlis said: "We could not even think a few years ago that a Greek Minister would be a witness at the marriage ceremony of a Turkish Prime Minister. This is an indicator that we are doing something right."
The couple was wed on a platform established in the middle of the salon at the Lutfi Kirdar International Congress Center.
The Prime Minister and his wife came to the salon with the marriage witnesses ahead of the bride and groom, Esra and Berat. (YE)
