Former MP Abdülbaki Erdoğmuş, politician-lawyer Ertuğrul Yalçınbayır, politician-academic Nesrin Nas, late journalist Hrant Dink's wife Rakel Dink, former ECtHR judge-former MP Rıza Türmen, politician-writer Tarhan Erdem, politician-writer Tarık Ziya Ekinci and late lawyer Tahir Elçi's wife Türkan Elçi have launched a petition entitled "We Want to Live in Justice" and called on everyone to support the campaign.
The petition has put an emphasis on rule of law and right to a fair trial:
"As citizens who believe that the essential element that makes us a society is justice, we demand compliance with the principle of rule of law, which is stipulated by the Constitution.
"We remind - out loud - the articles of the Constitution that guarantee the right to a fair trial and the independence and impartiality of courts.
"We demand courts that do not meet the expectations of the government, but do meet the requirements of justice.
"We reject turning into a mass who has lost its hope for justice.
"Regardless of what opinions and beliefs we hold, no matter what political party we vote for, it is where we meet: Living in justice." (AS/SD)
