The watch which has been kept for ten days in order to object the assignment of the facility in İztuzu Beach to a private company, ended today. Murat Demirci, one of the speakers of İztuzu Beach Recovery Platform, stated that the reason of ending the watch is provisional injunction ruled by Ortaca 1st Assize Court on 25 December 2014.
Having told to bianet, Demirci asserted that thanks to decisive attitude of DALÇEV (Dalyan Environmental Tourism Trade Limited Company) they prevented the company from illegally entering the beach and thus they reached their primary targets.
We reminded Demirci statement of İdris Güllüce, Minister of Environment and Urban Planning. Güllüce had said: “We will lodge an open tender. The one who has higher bid will purchase the facility.” Then, Demirci stated that it is very sad that İztuzu became a matter of money and public interest should be taken into consideration.
“This place shouldn’t be a matter of money. Therefore, we don’t want it to be assigned to a private company. If it will go out to tender in any case, then the mentality giving priority to the higher bid is wrong. This approach can be adopted in other issues, but such an approach is wrong for the beaches. Public interest should be taken into consideration if the case is İztuzu. We wish Ministry of Environment wouldn’t approach the issue in this way,” he added. (MUY/ÇT)
