In the wake of an agreement reached by Turkey and the US, the first step has been taken in the field for the formation of a safe zone in Syria.
Within this framework, a 6-member military team from the US arrived in Turkey's southeastern province of Urfa today (August 12). The team has come to Turkey to start preliminary preparations for the "Joint Operations Center" to be set up in cooperation with the US.
Accordingly, after the plane US soldiers landed at the GAP Airport in Urfa, the soldiers have been referred to the center.
In a statement released by the Ministry of National Defense regarding the issue, it has been stated that "the works for the establishment of the Joint Operations Center oriented towards the Safe Zone planned to be set up in coordination with the US have started."
"The Joint Operations Center is projected to start functioning in coming days", the Ministry has added further. (HA/SD)
