High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini said, “We call for an urgent truce in the Southeast and condemn all sorts of terror”.
“We had the chance to discuss internal issues in Turkey’s southeast. EU condemns all sorts of terror. We support urgent truce and return to peace process, be it PKK (Kurdistan Workers’ Party) attacks or any other terror activity.
“This was a process initiated by brave visions of Turkish officials. We believe this is still the only solution to establish peace and stability in the country”.
Hahn: We are ready to contribute to the process
Commissioner for European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, Johannes Hahn stated “We are ready to contribute to Kurdish peace process. We have interests in this subject because it might on a larger scale affect security of the EU”.
Bozkır: We protect rights of our citizens
Ministry of EU and Chief Negotiator, Volkan Bozkır said, “Turkey as a sovereign country will continue its fight against all terror organizations threatening national security including PKK. We protect rights of our citizens by doing so”.
EU aid pack
In the meeting aid pack of 3 million euros to be provided by the EU for Turkey to combat refugee crisis. Mogherini stated that she believes Turkey will take the aid pack.
“Turkey will not take possession of the 3 million euros to be given to the refugees, it is not a pocket money. It will be used for the refugees.
“Meetings continue but I am sure that the amount agreed upon will be delivered in an acceptable time.
“Turkish side also should do the management of refugee influx and other immigrants better”.
Italy opposes the aid pack to be given to Turkey. (YY/TK)
