Excess of invalid votes cast in Hakkari in June 24 elections has come to public agenda upon Peoples’ Democratic Party’s (HDP) objection to the Provincial Election Board. 3.5 percent of the votes cast in this province were declared invalid.
Considering the invalid votes in previous elections and June 24 election in 10 cities in Eastern and Southeastern provinces, a striking situation attracts attention other than Hakkari as well.
Average is 1.84 percent in cities in other regions
The rate of invalid votes in five cities from other regions on June 24 is as follows:
İstanbul: 1.6 percent
İzmir: 1.8 percent
Bursa: 1.9 percent
Adana: 1.8 percent
Trabzon: 2.1 percent
Average vote rate in five cities marked 1.84 percent.
The average is 3.11 percent in 10 cities in the region

The average vote rate increased from 2 percent on June 7, 2015 election to 3.1 percent on June 24, 2018 election.
Increase in 150 percent in Hakkari, 100 percent in Ağrı
According to official results, invalid votes show an increase by 150 percent in Hakkari compared to June 7, 2015 elections; 100 percent in Ağrı, 80 percent in Şırnak, 70 percent in Muş, and approximately 50 percent in Diyarbakır and Mardin. (ŞA/TK)
