Harran Municipality has erected a monument in Turkey’s southeastern Urfa province to “make sure July 15 coup attempt night be remembered”.
The colored statue made up two colors is on a location where people who come and go to the district can easily see.
One part of the statue consists of a tank and people who try or achieved to step up onto the tank. The second part of the statue illustrates President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan who does “Stop” sign with his hand.
Photos of the statue became one of the most shared posts on the social media.
Harran Mayor Mehmet Özyavuz from the Justice and Development Party (AKP) made the following statement about the statue:
“Turkish nation, which gave its second Independence War on July 15 night, has made history. We wanted to immortalize this epic victory with this monument
“This monument will always remind us the treason and how important to act together against the traitors”. (AS/TK)
