Unemployment rate has increased to 13% by 1.9 points in January 2017 compared to the same month of last year, according to Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK).
The number of unemployed people who are at or above the age of 15 has become 3,985,000 seeing an increase by 695,000 people compared to the same month of last year.
Women constituted 1,483,000 of the unemployed people. The unemployment has risen to 15.4% in women and 11.9 in men.
The rate was 12.7 in December 2016.
Youth unemployment has been declared as 24.5%.
These figures suggest that the unemployment rate hit the 7-year-high. (YY/TK)
