The Ministry of National Defense has announced that Infantry Second Lieutenant Ali Rıza Özcücük and Infantry Specialized Sergeant Sergen Güçlüer have died in a conflict that erupted in the area where the Turkish Armed Forces is carrying out the "Operation Claw" in Iraq's north.
The Ministry statement has also indicated that one soldier has been wounded in the conflict and has been hospitalized.
While the Ministry has extended its condolences in a written statement, it also announced yesterday (July 27) that one soldier lost his life in Iraq's Hakurk as part of the same military operation.
Operations Claw
Turkey launched the Claw-Lightning and Claw-Thunderbolt operations on April 23 in northern Iraq's Metina and Avasin-Basyan. The operations launched by the Turkish Armed Forces on the borders with the Iraqi Regional Government (KRG) continued with the operations of Claw, Claw-2, Claw-3, Claw-Tiger, Claw-Eagle, Claw-Lightning, Claw-Thunderbolt.
During the operations, the Turkish Armed Forces proceed by setting up military bases in Iraq's Hakurk and Sinat-Haftanin regions and settle in the region. (TP/SD)
