As part of an investigation conducted by the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, the house of Faris Türk in Peyas Neighborhood in Kayapınar was raided by the police on October 20.
As reported by Fahrettin Kılıç from Mezopotamya Agency (MA), Faris and Hanım Türk and their two children aged 7 and 16 were tortured by the police during the raid. Taken into custody, Faris Türk has been arrested by the court for "membership of the organization."
Speaking to Kılıç about the raid, Hanım Türk has said that the building where they live was surrounded by the police at around 5 in the morning on October 20 and a raid was conducted on their home. While they said that they would open the door, it was still broken down by the police.
'I was battered'
After the door of the house was broken down, three police officers entered the house with a dog, Hanım Türk has said and added:
"They set the dog on my husband. My two sons, who are aged 7 and 16, were sleeping in their maternal uncle's room. My son got afraid of the police and shouted. Their father thought that the police were inflicting violence on the children and ran towards their room, but the police took my husband to another room by inflicting violence on him."
Hanım Türk has also indicated that she was also battered by the police, who took her to another room, hit her head with a weapon and set the dog on her. According to Türk's statement, when she tried to defend herself against the dog, the police battered her with the butt of the weapon.
'My son is still crying'
Hanım Türk has said that the police officers then took the dog to the room where her husband and sons were.
"They had forced my children to lie on the ground. They had made the dog step over them. My children were traumatized. They have been living in fear for six days. We were tortured for nearly 2 hours," she has said.
Reiterating that her children have been traumatized by the incident, Türk has indicated, "My son is still shouting and crying in fear, he asks me about his father. We cannot tell him that his father has been arrested. He cannot sleep at night. This incident has greatly affected my children." (EMK/SD)
