Twenty-seven people have been detained in İstanbul for abusing a child for years, a children's rights group has announced.
A 13-year-old child had been abused by his/her father, uncle, cousins and teachers since s/he was eight, said Saadet Özkan, the head of the Saadet Öğretmen Association for Fighting Child Abuse.
There were also other children in the same school who were abused by the people in detention, she said on Twitter. "There are other children as well, they will speak too. We will request protection for them."
If the six other children speak, the number of suspects will exceed 50, said Yücel Ceylan, the deputy chair of the association.
"None of the 27 people deserved to breathe with us outside. In this case, we won't leave the mother, the sister and the uncle-in-law of the child," Özkan said. (AÖ/VK)
