Türkiye's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate stood at 9.6 percent in August, dropping by 0.4 points from the previous month, according to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) figures released today (October 10).
The unemployment rate was 8.2 percent for men and 12.5 percent for women aged 15 and over, marking the lowest point since 2014.
The broad unemployment rate, or the labor underutilization rate as termed by TurkStat, was 19.8 percent in August, with a 2.8-point decrease in a month. This statistic includes time-related underemployment, potential labor force and unemployment.
Seasonally adjusted employment rate was 47.9 percent.
The number of employed persons increased by 366 thousand to 31,01 million, and the employment rate was 47.9 percent with a 0.5-point increase. This rate was 65.3 percent for men, 30.8 percent for women.

Labor force participation
The number of persons in the labor force increased by 266,000 to 34.32 million. The labor force participation rate was 53 percent with a 0.4-point increase. It was 71.2 percent for men, and 35.1 percent for women.
Working hours
Seasonally and calendar adjusted average weekly actual working hours of persons at work during the reference period increased by 0.9 hours to 44.1 hours compared to the previous month.
