The Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) and the Inflation Research Group (ENAG), a group of independent economists, have separately released their inflation figures for September.
The official annual inflation rate was 83.45 percent and the monthly rate was 3.08 percent in September, whereas the ENAG found that the annual inflation rate was 186.27 percent, and the monthly inflation rate was 5.30 percent.
Since the start of the year, prices have increased by 52.40 percent according to TurkStat and 101.63 percent according to the ENAG.
The official inflation rate has been the highest since 1998, when it was 81.4 percent.
The spending groups with the highest annual increase rate was transportation (117.66 percent), food and non-alcoholic beverages (93.05 percent), and household goods (89.68 percent).
The highest monthly increase was in housing (9.99 percent), education (6.99 percent) and communication (3.40 percent). (HA/VK)
